Introductory Canyoning Tour
$200.00 per participant
Seven hours 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
From our meeting spot in Kahului (Central Maui), ride with us a half hour to the northeast side of West Maui. We begin with a short hike to a small waterfall, where you'll have the opportunity to slip down a natural water slide into a pool. Just below this pool is a second waterfall adjacent to a 10-foot cliff where you may jump into the pool below. During most of the year there's wild fruit to eat along the trail. Continuing down into the valley, We arrive at a giant banyan tree growing at the edge of a rock cliff next to a 20-foot waterfall. This is the first rappel. Here we provide you with complete instructions and demonstrations. Then you rappel down an easy descent and may easily climb back up the cliff, using the banyan roots for assistance, if you'd like to practice another easy rappel. Climb behind the waterfall, duck into the pool below and swim above the next 30-foot waterfall. This is the second rappel. Our policy is to provide a guide at the top of the cliff to make sure you begin the rappel safely. At the bottom of the rappel we have a second guide who belays you. That means that (s)he can control your descent if necessary and stop you at any time or guide you gently to the bottom if necessary. Our guide at the top can pull you back up, if you need that kind of assistance. Our entire program is geared for safety. Next comes a slide across the stream, rappel down a 60-foot waterfall, then down a 25-foot waterfall. Lunch is served at one of the pools and waterfalls. Swim beneath all the waterfalls if you want. Our exit is a 500-foot climb up a steep ridge. Hang onto fixed ropes while you pull yourself up for a great workout. You should be in good condition to participate in this trip.
ADVANCED CANYONING
$350 Ten hours 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This is what all of the training prepares you for. Multiple descents of tall waterfalls that will make your heart pound like never before. This is what experienced canyoners live for. Rappel down the waterfalls in technical descents into deep pools. Check out amazing rock formations and lush vegetation. Pick wild fruit along the way. Be prepared for a great workout at the end, when you exit the canyon for a steep climb of about 800 feet. Includes complete outfitting, lunch, bottled water.
These are just samples of what we anticipate, and we'll post our actual tours as soon as we receive our permit.
